Colin is a pioneer and a world class offshore sailor. In 1975, together with 3 friends, he decided to create a shorter solo ocean race which didn’t have the financial restraints of a transatlantic race. With the Azores chosen as the ideal destination, the AZAB race was created.
The Azores and Back race provides 2500 miles of ocean racing and is present a real challenge to solo and double handed racers.
He sailed the first race in 1975 in his original Sleuth Hound, a Pioneer 10 and followed this with the1976 OSTAR race

Colin is the proud owner of a new Hallberg Rassey 342 and will be racing “Sleuth Hound” in the 2007 AZAB race.
