Product Compliance and Testing Technician/Engineer.

Join the Scanstrut team as a Product Compliance and Testing Technician/Engineer.

Are you seeking an exciting opportunity at the forefront of marine and outdoor technology? We are seeking a highly skilled Product Compliance and Testing Technician to spearhead our commitment to excellence in regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing our in-house test facility and liaising with external laboratories and test houses, ensuring that our products undergo thorough testing, adhering to the Scanstrut SCA (Safe Certified, Approved) model approach during the development process, and assisting the Quality Manager with product compliance documentation. Your expertise will be instrumental in guaranteeing that our products comply with all relevant global regulatory requirements throughout their lifecycle.

With meticulous attention to detail, you will lead the preparation of essential documentation, reports, and submissions, playing a vital role in maintaining our reputation as a trusted industry leader.

This role is full-time and based at our amazing, purpose-built offices on the edge of Topsham, just opposite Dart’s Farm. We’re perfectly located: just 20 minutes from the sea and the same from Dartmoor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume ownership of the product, overseeing compliance and testing
  • Lead global regulatory compliance efforts for our products, actively identifying and addressing upcoming regulatory changes.
  • Manage partnerships related to product compliance testing.
  • Guide product testing throughout the development life cycle.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Design managers to create and own product test specifications.
  • Develop test procedures, protocols, standards, plans, and reports.
  • Perform hands-on product testing as required.
  • Maintain in house test equipment.
  • Participate in product risk assessments, such as FMEA, to proactively mitigate potential risks.

Key Skills:

  • Level 4 (HNC) or above in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline.
  • Strong logical thinking, analytical abilities, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong project management skills, working on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • 1+ years’ experience working in industry.
  • Experience in managing global product compliance, including CE, UKCA, RoHS, REACH, Prop 65 and other relevant standards is beneficial.
  • Experience of 5s/6s, RCCA, and problem-solving is beneficial.
  • CAD experience beneficial but not essential.
  • Knowledge of marine or outdoor industries (a plus but not required).

About you:

Our team is united by the common traits of talent, energy, and endeavour. We are looking for the same in you and our company recognises and rewards all three.

  • Talent: you are outstanding at what you do.
  • Energy: you work hard to deliver on your talent.
  • Endeavour: you do more than just the obvious. You strive to be better, every day.

You will have a natural sense of responsibility and feel comfortable owning the expectations of the role. Your successes will be celebrated.

Ambition and drive are important, as are excellent, long-term relationship building skills. You will be the key contact for all your accounts and build trust with each of them as we grow together.

Ideally, you have a previous history of successful sales for a product led, technical brand. Additionally, previous experience of working with aftermarket and reseller type customers is also important and will help you start quickly into the role. Marine and RV sector experience is less critical; attitude is far more important and we will train you in what you need to know.
